Pastor’s Corner – “Rejoice in the Lord”

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4 (NIV) Paul says, “Have joy over and over again!” Not just the rush of positive feelings in the moment, but the joy that comes from repeated discovery of God’s goodness. So much of our “happiness” is rooted in circumstances – when things go our way, or we get what we want, we get happy for the moment. But circumstances change, so our happiness changes. Joy is not like that. Even on bad days, joy is available because it’s not about how things are going, it’s about God – God who is good. Even in the middle of my anxiety, God is present – ready to help me remember how He saves me, comforts me, and encourages me. With God, there is no need to be anxious because He is in control. Paul says if I find myself worrying, I can still “rejoice in the Lord always” because the Lord is always. He settles me down, restores my peace, and reassures me with His presence. Whatever circumstances in your life are filling you with stress and anxiety today, you can rejoice, relax, and have no fear, because the Lord is near.
